Chronic kidney disease (CKD) has increased substantially in India over the past two decades, mirroring the global trend, and has emerged as a significant cause of mortality and morbidity. Most available information regarding homeopathy and CKD consists of case reports and small studies, therefore, it has been decided to initially explore the complementary role of homeopathy in chronic kidney disease through research. In an open-label, controlled experimental study involving 70 patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) who were not on dialysis, a significant difference was observed between the experimental group (receiving homeopathy plus conventional treatment) and the control group (receiving only conventional treatment). A paired t-test was applied in both groups to evaluate the significance of the differences. The critical t-value was 2.032 (95% CI, two-tailed, 34 df). For the experimental group, the calculated t for creatinine was 2.529 (greater than the critical t), while for the control group, it was 0.618 (less than the critical t). For GFR, the experimental group had a calculated t of 4.788 (greater than the critical t), while the control group had a calculated t of 1.248 (less than the critical t). The experimental group demonstrated a higher improvement ratio, indicating that homeopathy can effectively serve as a complementary therapy for CKD in non-dialysis patients. It is recommended to consider incorporating homeopathy alongside conventional treatments to help prevent progression to end-stage renal disease.
